Brooke Oehme, Instructor
Brooke Oehme was first bit with the theater bug when she picked up a puppet at the age of five and helped her sisters put on a show. Since then she has worked with the Pearl City Players in Muscatine, Iowa, the Black V improv troupe at Northwestern College in Orange City, Iowa, Mount Mercy University, and Southern Illinois University in Carbondale.
While Brooke is currently finishing a Ph.D. in Dramaturgy, she got sick of telling people what "dramaturgy" means and also did some work with stage management, prop design, scenic design, acting, improv, stage combat, and a little bit of directing. Most often, Brooke describes herself as a playwright and general theater tech. Her play "Notes to Self" has had readings at both Southern Illinois University and the Minneapolis Playwright's Center. But the best play she has ever been a part of was a low-tech show she put on of a play her niece learned how to write here at Davenport Junior Theater.
As a full-time speech instructor with Eastern Iowa Community College, Brooke is excited to work with the DJT students to help develop the confidence and skills that will help them succeed for the rest of their lives.
