Meet the Staff Series: Jenny Hampton

Meet Jenny Hampton!

Jenny is proud to currently serve as the Dance Coordinator for DJT Dance! We asked her a series of questions ranging from silly to serious in order to get to know her a little better. The informal interview follows:

When did you first discover your passion for dance? Was there one specific moment you can recall?

When I was around 8 years old. I started dance classes and my teacher made class so fun that I fell in love with dance!

My first recital piece was to Jellicle Ball from Cats. My mom bought me the movie version of the show and that's when I fell in love with musicals.

(spoiler: I am NOT a singer!!)

Favorite role?

Alice in my college devised theatre piece of WONDERland.

What about a dream role?

An ensemble member in the cast of Hamilton. Their choreography is fantastic!

How do you spend your free time?

Napping or watching TV

What song always puts you in a good mood?

Bohemian Rhapsody

Favorite productions?

Hamilton, Cats, Newsies, Wicked

What's the best thing you've seen on stage recently?

Hamilton!

What quote do you live by?

"Be the good you wish to see in the world"

Who are your heroes?

My mom, My dance teacher

What is your favorite thing about Junior Theatre?

Seeing the excitement in dancers when it is their first dance class ever. It is a blessing we are able to provide a quality dance education at affordable rates.

What do you love most about teaching children's theatre?

When a student has the light bulb moment and is able to understand and perform a skill they have been working hard on.

What is on your bucket list?

Travel, swim with dolphins, and hold a sloth

How do you find inspiration?

I find inspiration in music, pictures, and other people.

What's your favorite food?

Pasta!

If you had one superpower, what would it be?

The ability to calm emotions. I hate conflict....

To be or not to be?

Whether tis nobler in the mind to suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune.... and that's about all I remember... something about crows later...
